Countless books have been written on that one question alone. There's some confusion out there concerning what Life Coaches do, so it is often easier starting out by stating what Life Coaches don't do. Many people believe that Life Coaches are therapists. Life Coaches aren't facilitators, therapists, counselors or psychotherapists, although our coaching sessions might feel like therapy at times and some therapists do become coaches. Therapy sessions often deal with the past, but Life Coach sessions work in the present while looking towards the future. Your future. Unless they're qualified or licensed to do so, Life Coaches don't offer legal advice or advice with financial planning, medical issues, investment opportunities or the like. There are experts in those fields that a good Life Coach will suggest you speak with and it would be highly unethical, and in many cases illegal, for a coach to offer advice there.
OK, so now that we've touched on what coaches don't do, what is it that coaches do? Life Coaches coach you in making improvements in your life. Normally, but certainly not always, a person that works with a Life Coach is already a somewhat successful person. They come to coaching to achieve even higher goals. We coaches know (Yes, know) that you have incredible untapped potential inside of you that you probably aren't aware of. We show you tips, techniques and strategies aimed at bringing these resources to the surface for you to use today and in the future. We empower, but we do so in a respectful manner. We don't judge you or steer you towards areas we think you need addressing in your life. You decide what area(s) you want us to work on in your life, and we work together as a team. We move at your pace, in a completely safe and comfortable environment where your privacy is paramount. It's fun, it's empowering and extremely rewarding when dramatic changes occur in your life… for both of us.
